U108 – Multiple submissions for the same student
This article is about the case where you have multiple submissions from the same student if you share your widgets through an LMS integration (Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Canvas,…) and if you have enabled the widget setting Reporting > Allow student to submit only once.
If this doesn't apply, students can always submit their answers multiple times without this being considered as an issue, but as the default way BookWidgets works.
A connectivity issue with the network and/or the internet on the student device may cause you to have multiple submissions from a single student, even if you have taken all the correct steps to restrict the number of submissions.
What likely happened
When a student submits their answers, the BookWidgets server registers the submission and sends back a confirmation that the answers were sent correctly.

In a normal situation, this exchange takes fractions of a second. However if there's an issue with the network or internet connection, a delay may occur. The student may have sufficient time to submit, notice that something is the matter, close the dialog and try again. As a consequence, multiple simultaneous submissions may be queueing while they're on their way to the BookWidgets server.
When the connectivity issue is resolved, the pending submissions continue their trajectory and reach the BookWidgets server. All submissions will be displayed in your submissions overview. If the timestamps are close together and the student's answers are identical, it is likely that a connectivity issue is at the cause.
